music is for your ears
ive been planning to write a string quartet or quintet for one of the house concerts and have been spending alot of time looking at mozart's K515 and 516 quintets (2vln, 2vla, cello) and ravels string quartet and beethoveen's op132. these 4 becoming a structural model of inspiration. but also the periods of change around mozart/beethoveen and ravel in terms of geopolitics and contemporary ideas around these composers make me feel a kinship with the energy of the time. not to say we are are living in a similar time, but it gives me hope for a future .. and an inspiration for the music. .. * ..
other ideas for house concert pieces include:
a wind or brass ensemble (maybe trio)
some indian music (not me)
very quiet electronic/found object/found electronic object piece
a chamber work for plastic instruments
